Postpartum doulas offer families guidance and assistance regarding infant sleep, feeding practices, emotional and physical recovery following childbirth, techniques for soothing infants, and strategies for new parents to cope with their new responsibilities. Additionally, they may assist with light household tasks, prepare meals, and facilitate the integration of an older child into this new family dynamic.
The approach taken will be contingent upon your individual preferences and requirements. During our initial consultation, we will explore your expectations regarding my role as your doula. While I have a specialization in sleep training, the decision to adhere to a particular sleep training method, to gradually establish healthy sleep practices, or simply to have assistance that allows you to rest is entirely yours.
Certainly! Personalized care plays a crucial role in the relationship between a doula and parents. Based on your preferences, I can either bring the infant to you when they are ready for feeding, collect expressed milk to prepare a bottle, or prepare formula bottles as needed. Fed is best. As your doula, I will support and encourage whatever route you choose.
At this time, I do not accept insurance.
We will chat about costs in our initial consult! Please review my prices under the investment tab, and feel free to ask any questions!
One word: OVERNIGHTS. Achieving adequate sleep is crucial when you are required to be fully present for your older child or children throughout the day. The opportunity to rest while the baby sleeps is no longer feasible, as that time is dedicated to bonding with your older child. Imagine the benefits of enjoying a complete night’s sleep.
In a word: Yours! I offer non-judgmental, non-dogmatic support for whatever style of parenting works for you. If you have questions, or want to explore your options for a particular question – for example, cloth vs. disposable diapers – I am happy to discuss and share my knowledge and experiences, but I don’t try to push anything on you. In my years doing this kind of work, I have pretty much seen it all, and I know the BEST parenting philosophy is to do what works for your family! The secret to happy, healthy babies is happy, healthy moms and dads.
That’s completely up to you. I offer several levels of care, from daytime shifts to overnights, which we’ll decide before your baby arrives. Most families start with a lot of help and then gradually taper off as Mom recovers and everyone gets settled into life with a baby.
When your new arrival comes, I am at the ready to swoop in and start helping, so you don’t even have to worry about it! Just give me a heads up when the whole exciting birth process begins (or when you finally see that sweet little face!) and we’ll start planning your first visit.
If your little angels are already here and you need some support right-this-very-moment, I am happy to set up an ASAP visit. Once we get you a cup of tea and a few moments of relaxation, we can figure out what your long-term needs are.
This is a great question! We will cover this in our initial consultation because it usually looks different for each family!
